The most familiar and convenient way to reach the Jacques Cartier Motel is, of course, by car. It stands as a typical roadside motel right on King Street, a section of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 105) in North Sydney. Thus, it is very easily accessible to motorists traveling from mainland Nova Scotia or those touring the Cabot Trail. The motel’s big plus is lots of free at-your-door parking, a boon doing away with any hassle for road trippers to load and unload luggage.
Main strategic purpose of the hotel is to service the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal feeding services to Newfoundland. The terminal is extremely close; a 3 to 5-minute drive from the motel. This makes it the perfect stress-free location for travelers with an extremely early morning ferry departure or for those arriving late at night. You can get a comfortable night’s sleep and be at the ferry check-in line within minutes.
The major regional hub for air passengers J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY) is around 20-25 minutes’ drive to the motel. Therefore, renting a car at the airport is the preferred and practical way to access and visit the area and reach the motel because of the freedom provided. Unfortunately, currently, public transport in and around may be a little gloomy and does not provide an easy travel service up to this property.
